As garden chores and harvests wind down for the season, it’s time to start preparing your garden for winter. UNH Extension Master Gardener Linda Hansen will show us how to finish off annuals and vegetable beds, prepare perennial beds to reduce pests and disease, overwinter non-hardy plants, ready ornamental shrubs and evergreens to survive various winter conditions, and tend to tools and supplies.
Linda has been a gardener for the past 30 years and completed the UNH Extension Master Gardener training in 2024. Her current passion is pollinator gardening. Her yard is certified as a Pollinator-Friendly Garden by UNH Extension, a Monarch Way Station by Monarch Watch, a Pollinator Habitat by the Xerces Society, and a certified Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. Linda’s yard is “on the map” as part of Doug Tallamy’s Homegrown National Park. All of these programs support pollinators by encouraging gardeners to grow native plants and maintain a pesticide-free yard.
This adult program is part of a series produced by the Hanover Garden Club in partnership with the Montshire Museum of Science. It will be held in person with a Zoom option.
