Interested in growing mushrooms at home but don’t know where to start? Well, look no further. Johnny’s Selected Seeds’ mushroom product manager Ben Brown and product technician Daniel Yoder will discuss the basics of successfully growing your own mushroom crop right in your garden! They will cover the basics of mushroom spawn variety selection, site preparation, input requirements, supplies, timing, and how to get the best yields for your efforts.
Ben is a product manager at Johnny’s Selected Seeds, managing vegetables, mushrooms, and fruits. He has been with the company for over 10 years, first as a commercial farmer working seasonally in its contact center and then moving to the pepper breeding program. Before joining Johnny’s, Ben was a market gardener for 10 years growing vegetables, flowers, and herbs. He studied biology at the University of Maine at Augusta. Daniel works on Johnny’s Research Team, coordinating mushroom and other crop trials, collecting data, and analyzing results. This adult program is part of a series produced by the Hanover Garden Club in partnership with the Montshire Museum of Science. It will be held in person with Ben and Daniel appearing via Zoom.
