Growing Mushrooms with Ben Brown

  • Montshire Museum of Science 1 Montshire Road Norwich, VT, 05055 United States (map)

Interested in growing mushrooms at home but don’t know where to start? Well, look no further. Johnny’s Selected Seeds’ mushroom product manager Ben Brown will discuss the basics of successfully growing your own mushroom crop right in your garden! He will cover the basics of mushroom spawn variety selection, site preparation, input requirements, supplies, timing, and how to get the best yields for your efforts.

Ben is a product manager at Johnny’s Selected Seeds, managing vegetables, mushrooms, and fruits. He has been with the company for over 10 years, first as a commercial farmer working seasonally in its contact center and then moving to the pepper breeding program. Before joining Johnny’s, Ben was a market gardener for 10 years growing vegetables, flowers, and herbs. He studied biology at the University of Maine at Augusta. www.johnnyseeds.com
