Guiding you through her design process, local landscape designer Krystyna Oszkinis will highlight the ecological landscaping principles she considers when assessing various garden settings. She will outline the steps she takes to create a new garden or renovate an existing space—from the client’s initial garden inquiry to planting day. Krystyna will also share some of her favorite plants that serve as “problem solvers” for common gardening challenges in the Upper Valley, such as clay soil and deer pressure.
Krystyna is the co-owner and lead designer of Rooted Gardens. Together with her husband, Matt—who leads the company’s electric lawn care team—they provide landscaping services that increase biodiversity, reduce fossil fuel reliance, and decrease the noise pollution typically associated with land care. Krystyna studied environmental studies and studio art at Dartmouth and has spent the last decade passionately tending outdoor spaces to enhance human interaction with the natural world. myrootedgardens.com
