Seeing the Forest for the Trees: Declining Biodiversity in Upper Valley Forests
Session 3: (Open) Space Invaders: How Invasive Plants Threaten Biodiversity
May 22, 6-7:30 PM, Howe Library Mayer Room
Deer overbrowse allows aggressive non-native plants that deer don’t eat to invade our forests. These non-native plants impact wildlife habitat and diversity on the forest understory. Some plant invaders are not easy to remove. Speakers will discuss how to plan, prioritize, budget and recruit public support for efforts in removing these invaders. The question of what will replace these invaders will be addressed.
