Seeing the Forest for the Trees: Declining Biodiversity in Upper Valley Forests
Session 2: Oh Deer: Impact of Deer on Upper Valley Forests
Wednesday, May 1, 6-7:30 PM in the Howe Library Mayer Room
Mayer Room at the Howe Library
The speakers will discuss the role of state hunting rules, how hunters can keep the deer herd at a reasonable level. Speakers will answer some of these questions:
How do we know what the density of deer is, and what is the ‘tipping’ point where deer do damage to our forests?
Are there changes in hunting rules and/or hunting practices that help reduce deer density?
How can individuals and all landowners help reduce deer pressure on our wild areas?
Do we have enough hunters?
